Hopps is all smiles today because he finally got his bandage off!!! Hes thrilled that hes finally a free man! Hopps has always been a happy boy, but you should see him now without that cast holding him back <3

Weve had Hopps for over a month now while hes been busy growing and healing. His first set of radiographs showed that he was only about six-weeks-old and he had a 1.5-week-old radius/ulna (frontleg) fracture with possible growth plate involvement. Weeks of bandage changes and radiographs later, hes finally bandage free! His latest radiographs showed that his fractures are healing and despite the malunion, he should be able to walk relatively normally on the leg. Hell get what will hopefully be his last set of radiographs next week to make sure the bones have continued to heal properly. His carpus/wrist is very weak and has limited range of motion. Physical therapy would likely improve the integrity of his carpal joints. Degenerative changes may occur in Hopps' affected joints and the degeneration will likely progress over time. Hopps may or may not have clinical signs associated with this, such as pain and limping, which may require vet care and medications. Maintaining Hopps on a regular, controlled exercise program, and keeping him at a lean weight will help him a great deal.

BIO
This handsome little handful is Hopps! Hopps is a 12-week-old (as of 4/16), 20 pound Hound/something mix. He spends most of his time either sleeping/cuddling, or finding something new and tasty to chew on, snatching it up, and running as fast as he can to the nearest dog bed to tear it apart. These are hardly ever puppy-approved items, which means they are the most funfor Hopps. Hes super soft, super squishy, super cuddly, but also super naughty! Hes looking for a family that will love him for how he looks on the outside AND for who he is on the inside ;)

Hopps does everything a normal puppy does, but with more intensity, more frequency, and more determination. He has the biggest heart and often struggles with deciding between snuggling and going crazy. He absolutely loves his foster parents, making new friends, toys that are 10x too big for him, and anything that he considers edible. He absolutely hates when other dogs have his toys, being crated, being held back (LET ME GO!!!), and his cast. With tons of patience and training hes come really far, but will need an adopter that is committed to working to improve his behaviors. If youd like more information about Hopps, and his healing injury, we can get you in touch with his foster mom!
